Danielle Kepler, LCPC

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Certified Gottman Therapist, but you can call me a relationship expert, anxiety specialist, and burnout helper. My clients experience me as professional, personable, and non-judgmental, creating a comfortable and safe therapeutic environment. Known to “not take myself too seriously,” my clients describe me as both trustworthy and candid.

How I Help…

I recognize that not every person will fit with just one therapeutic approach and work with you to collaboratively develop a treatment approach to fit your needs. I have several years of experience with evidence-based therapies and emphasize skill building to support emotional regulation, mindfulness, and acceptance. My theoretical approach includes a blend of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also have completed basic training in EMDR and am working on becoming certified in EMDR. I use EMDR with people who have undergone traumatic events (big or small). I am specifically trained in Attachment-Focused EMDR which focuses on creating safety through resourcing so you are prepared for EMDR and adapts to your needs.

There are a few people in this world we need like we need our significant other/partner. When our relationships are suffering, our whole lives feel out of control. I help both individuals and couples who are seeking to improve their lives and relationships.

Danielle is a Certified Gottman Couples Therapist.

I am certified in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and have additional training in Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy and use these evidence-based approaches to strengthen or restore relationships. I work with couples in every stage of their relationship,  whether they are dating or seeking pre-marital or marital counseling.

Additionally, I work with adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, work stress, and life transitions.  I offer unique opportunities to help you work through your difficulties by teaching tools necessary for developing insight and putting insight into action to help you live a rich, meaningful life.

My Background…

I grew up and attended college in Pennsylvania before moving to Chicago to further my education. My career as a therapist started in the hospital setting in Chicago, working with adults and teenagers in crisis as well as the intellectually disabled and their families. This unique and rewarding experience has furthered my appreciation for the struggles of Chicago’s families and sparked my interest in couples therapy.

On a more personal note…

You can find me traveling, backpacking, and camping with my husband. I enjoy reading, especially books of the mystery/thriller genre, although I enjoy any book that keeps my interest. Even though I have lived in Chicago for fifteen+ years, I try to enjoy all that the city has to offer and like exploring new neighborhoods (I welcome tips on new places!). I am also an avid weightlifter and former crossfitter (had to give it up due to my work schedule!). I find working out to be a good blend of challenging and de-stressing.
