    This 1 credit in-person workshop was developed for social workers and mental health professionals. In this course, we will discuss Polyvagal Theory, its implications for clinical and culturally competent practice, and how we can learn to befriend our nervous system to engage our body’s relaxation response.

    Target audience: social workers and counselors

    Content level: beginner to intermediate

    Who Should Attend: This live, interactive workshop is designed for social workers and counselors at all levels of experience and licensure to explore or gain a better working knowledge of Polyvagal Theory.

    About the Instructor

    Gabrielle Juliano-Villani is a licensed clinical social worker and consultant based in Sarasota, Fl. She has been in the mental health field for over a decade specializing in stress, chronic health conditions, and trauma. Gabrielle has made it her mission to educate others on the impact stress has on our everyday lives. Gabrielle pulls from her experience as an EMDR and Polyvagal Informed therapist to utilize mind/body approaches to help others implement everyday strategies to manage stress and live their best lives. Gabrielle is an international speaker, and retreat leader, and has been featured in Authority Magazine, The Daily Om, Bustle, and the Everyday Woman TV Network. When she’s not working, Gabrielle is teaching Zumba, surfing, or reading a psychological thriller at the beach.

    5-20 minutes: What is Polyvagal Theory?

    20-25 minutes: 3 principles of Polyvagal Theory

    25-35 minutes: 3 stages of nervous system response

    35-45 minutes: Key takeaways for trauma-informed and culturally competent

    Course Completion and CE Info

    Course Completion Requirements: Participants must attend the entire course and complete a course evaluation and post-test to earn CE credit. The evaluation and post-test will be emailed after the event. Certificates of completion will be emailed upon completion of the course evaluation and post-test if a passing score of at least 80% is received within a maximum of 3 attempts.

    Transform Your Understanding of Human Behavior with Polyvagal Theory, course# 1234, is approved by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program to be offered by DK Therapy, LLC as an individual course. Individual courses, not providers, are approved at the course level. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. ACE course approval period: 01/01/2001-01/01/2002. Social workers completing this course receive 1 clinical continuing education credit.

    Course Description: 

    This training provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to use the “Golden Thread” concept to conduct a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment and form a sound clinical formation, ultimately leading to more effective treatment outcomes. Participants will learn how to effectively conduct a diagnostic interview and understand the contributing factors that inform the urgency of treatment. After completing the training, participants will be able to analyze the intersections between different domains of a client’s life and how these impact current mental health status and treatment needs.

    Objectives:

    Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

    1. Identify the three main components of the biopsychosocial assessment and gather information using standardized evidence-based assessment tools.
    2. Effectively conduct a diagnostic interview in order to accurately diagnose the primary problem and identify contributing factors that inform the urgency of treatment.
    3. Develop a sound clinical formulation that informs treatment planning.
    4. Analyze the intersections between different domains of a client’s life and how they can impact current mental health status and treatment needs.

    Continuing Education is provided by DK Therapy, LLC. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive 1.5 CEs.
