Kelsey Kamin, LSW

I am a Licensed Social Worker, but I am often thought of as a calm, approachable, and encouraging presence. My clients experience me as empathetic, organized, and deeply supportive, which combined create a safe space and therapeutic environment.
I try not to take myself too seriously, but when the time comes to dive into the more challenging and serious issues, I pride myself on being a non‑judgmental, active listener who helps clients feel truly heard.

How I Help…

I understand that people are unique in every way, so I find it important to develop a therapeutic plan tailored to each person’s needs. My goal is to work collaboratively with you to identify the best approach for your growth and healing.

I utilize evidence‑based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma‑Informed Care, and a Strengths‑Based Approach.

I believe life transitions—whether career changes, relationship shifts, or family dynamics—can have a profound impact on a person’s wellbeing. In those moments, building confidence, finding balance, and cultivating self‑compassion can be transformative. I work with clients to tap into their personal strengths and develop tools to navigate whatever challenges they may be facing.

I also work with people managing anxiety and depression, helping them build practical skills, gain insight into their patterns, and increase self‑awareness in a safe, supportive environment.

Teenagers and emerging adults often face unique challenges as they navigate identity development, social pressures, academic or career transitions, and evolving relationships. I strive to create a space where they feel respected, understood, and empowered to express themselves openly, working together to build confidence, emotional awareness, and resilience.

In addition to individual therapy, I work with couples to improve communication, deepen emotional connection, and navigate relational challenges. I utilize The Gottman Method, a research-based approach to couples therapy that focuses on rebuilding trust, managing conflict constructively, and fostering shared meaning and intimacy. My goal is to support couples in strengthening their bond and building healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

My Background…

I grew up in Chicago, Illinois, where I received my undergraduate degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois Urbana‑Champaign. I received my Master of Social Work from Aurora University.

As a therapist, I have provided therapeutic services to clients with severe and persistent mental illness and gained additional experience supporting children, families, and individuals with diverse social service needs. This experience has strengthened my passion to work with individuals living with anxiety, depression, and life stressors—helping them build coping skills, rediscover their strengths, and move toward meaningful change.

On a more personal note…

Outside of my work, I love spending time outdoors in Chicago, either walking by the lake or exploring new neighborhoods. I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, working out, reading, and connecting with friends and family over coffee or a good meal. These personal joys keep me grounded and energized, and I bring that sense of balance and curiosity into my work with clients.
