Therapist Spotlight with Claudia Hernandez 2.0

DK Therapy has grown in the past few months and we would like to give you the opportunity to get to know a little more about our therapists in Chicago, what challenges their clients face, and what it would be like to work with them.

At DK, we focus on your comfort within the therapy office. We hope that knowing a bit about your therapist before your first visit, helps you make a connection even before meeting them.

Without further ado…

Why do you think it’s important for people to participate in therapy?

Claudia Hernandez:

To exist in this world is not easy. We may not get many opportunities to explore how our experiences have had an impact on who we are and how we engage with others. I think there is tremendous value in learning more about oneself through the experience of entering into therapy. Especially when the experience of therapy is intertwined with tremendous empathy, acceptance, and encouragement.

What do you hope clients gain when working with you?

Claudia Hernandez:

My hope is for my clients to gain perspective and awareness. I want my clients to be more aware of themselves, the origins of their concerns, and what would help them find solutions to move forward.

What self-care activities do you do to manage life stressors?

My cat can be evil at times, but also adorable.

Claudia Hernandez:

I absolutely love engaging in physical activities to be more present with myself and recover from daily stressors. I enjoy camping, going on hikes, and working out to reduce stress. If I find myself feeling too physically exhausted, I like to take time to read or enjoy rewatching some of my favorite anime series. If I am feeling a bit disconnected, I enjoy spending time with friends, my family, my partner, or my cat. I think it is helpful to find several self-care activities to resonate with, so that when the time comes, there are plenty of options to recharge and refocus.

We hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about Claudia.
