DK Therapy has grown in the past few months and we would like to give you the opportunity to get to know a little more about our therapists, what challenges their clients face, and what it would be like to work with them.
At DK, we focus on your comfort within the therapy office. We hope that knowing a bit about your therapist before your first visit, helps you make a connection even before meeting them.
Without further ado…
What experiences have brought you to the helping profession?
Claudia:
Like so many other clinicians in the field, I have had loved ones struggle with mental health concerns. These experiences shifted my perception to see the immense value of seeking mental health support and ignited my interest in becoming a part of a field that provided such support.
What is a therapy session like with you?
Claudia:
I generally like to start off by checking in with my clients. What was great about their week or maybe what was tough about their week? I follow the lead of my clients and what they want to prioritize in our session. Maybe they want to pick up where we left off or maybe something new has happened that they want to process. We try to explore themes in experiences, dynamics in relationships with others, solutions to immediate concerns, or methods to effectively vocalize concerns. Above all else, I want to make sure that no matter what is discussed, my clients feel supported, understood, and have a greater sense of direction.
What are some of the challenges your clients face?
Claudia:
So many of my clients walk in with a variety of unique challenges, so not one client’s concern is identical to another. Some struggle to find closure or to heal. Others may be searching to find direction, to quiet anxious thoughts, or to look at themselves in a positive light. They may not see a life beyond the harm done to them or might struggle to build healthy relationships with others. Clients I really enjoy working with do not come in with one specific challenge. My ideal client is one that presents with the willingness and courage to learn, mend, and grow.
